Mrs. Daniel’s 4th Block Sophomore Literature class created a model of Auschwitz Concentration Camp as a final project after reading Elie Wiesel’s memoir, “Night”. The students were not given any specific instructions; only to represent the camp as accurately as possible and be creative.
The students designed and created the camp using a multitude of materials. The main gate with the inscription of “Arbeit Macht Frei”, Work Makes You Free, was designed and created by Miss Abie Whisman using a plasma cutter. A huge “Thank You” to Mrs. Jessica Young for providing pieces from the 3-D Printer.
This cross-curricular project not only allowed students to dig deeper into the memoir, but also allowed them to showcase skills, talents and knowledge bases. It even gave some students that little nudge to finally come out of their shells a bit. So incredibly proud of these students.
