We are so pleased to announce that Crisp County High School Senior Kevin McCloud has been named the 12th-grade Chattahoochee-Flint region winner in the Young Georgia Authors 2025-2026 Writing competition.

Kevin's work, “The Seed”, will now enter the state-wide competition later this year.

The 2025-2026 Young Georgia Authors Writing Competition is a regional competition among elementary, middle, and high schools in the Chattahoochee-Flint RESA region.

Winning entries from the RESA level will move on to the state-level competition for another round of judging. State winners will be announced later this year.

This writing contest, sponsored by the Georgia Language Arts Supervisors and the Georgia RESA Network with support from the Georgia Department of Education, is open to students in grades K-12 and includes all types of writing, such as short stories, poetry, essays, research reports, and other forms.

The purpose of the Young Georgia Authors (YGA) writing competition is to encourage students to develop an enthusiasm for and expertise in their writing, to provide a context to celebrate their writing successes, and to recognize student achievement in arts and academics.

These writers will be recognized at a special reception and awards ceremony at Chattahoochee-Flint RESA on Monday, March 9, 2026, from 9:00-10:00 am.
