Spanish

At CCHS, students taking Spanish not only learn about the target language, but also about the customs and traditions of Spanish-speaking countries. The Day of the Dead (el Día de los Muertos), is a Mexican holiday where families welcome back the souls of their deceased relatives for a brief reunion that includes food, drink and celebration. It is celebrated each year from October 31-November 2.  Disney and other major movie companies have made movies such as "COCO" and 'THE BOOK OF LIFE" based on the customs and traditions of this holiday.

Students in Spanish 1, 2 and 3 classes with Mrs. Navarro and Mr. Santos made "CALAVERAS" (skulls) and "CALACAS" (skeletons) that are on display in the 100 hallway. The skeleton in everyone's 'CALACA" is based solely on the shape of students' first name. Tip your head to the left to see the name if it isn't readily apparent. They also worked on a collaborative poster and used their social media apps to get pictures using the famous "Catrina" filter.
